Did you know one in two Australians is diagnosed with cancer by 85? There’s every chance your life will be affected.  The Cancer Council Western Australia is the leading cancer charity in WA and has a proud history of advocacy and action on cancer issues.  They run many different fundraisers throughout the year so there are lots of opportunities to get involved.

Australia's Biggest Morning Tea

Australia's biggest tea is one of the Cancer Council's leading funraising events and the largest, most successful of its kind in Australia.  The official date is Thursday the 27th May 2010, but you can host an event any time during the month of May or June.  Australia's biggest Morning Tea is easy to organise, fun and completely flexiable to suit your environment - at your school or club, at work or even in the comfort of your own home.  Simply arrange a time and place and invite your guests to make a donation.

Girls Night In

Are you and your friends foodies? Movie buffs? Shopaholics? Love a singsong? Or do you just fancy some time to catch-up? Whatever your idea of a good night is, get together for Girls Night In, have heaps of fun and raise funds to help Cancer Council in our quest to defeat women’s cancers. The idea is as a group you all donate the money you’d have spent on a big night out having a night in instead, though there’s lots of other ways to raise money too. Girls Night in is run throughout the month of October.

Pink Ribbon Day

Throughout October, Australia rallied together to raise vital funds and awareness for women and men affected by breast cancer.

Pink Ribbon Day is on Monday the 25th October 2010. You can show your support for breast cancer by ordering Pink products to sell, volunteering your time to help, buying Pink, holding a Pink fundraiser or by making a donation.

Relay for life

Cancer Council’s Relay For Life is more than just a fundraiser. It is an opportunity to get together with your community and celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer, and fight back against a disease that takes too much.

Relay For Life is a unique event where teams of 10 to 15 friends, families or colleagues challenge themselves to take turns to keep a baton moving in a relay style walk or run overnight.  There are no age limitations or fitness requirements – Relay For Life is suitable for everyone and anyone can join in the fun!  Stay for the whole event, camp overnight, or just visit and enjoy the free entertainment, prizes and ceremonies that make Relay For Life so inspirational.

Each person on the team pays a registration fee which includes a polo shirt and breakfast at the event.  Relay is a fundraising event where team members are encouraged to raise a minimum of $100 each.

Daffodil Day

Daffodil Day is on Friday 27th of August 2010.

It’s a day for all of us to give hope for a brighter, cancer-free future for ourselves, and for those we love. Daffodil Day merchandise is on sale throughout August, and you can donate to Daffodil Day at anytime.  To get involved you can either order merchandise boxes and fresh daffodils to sell to family, friends and colleagues, or volunteer to help on one of our Daffodil Day stalls, or donate to Daffodil Day. Your support will help us maintain the hope the daffodil symbolises to the thousands of cancer patients diagnosed each year.
